Strategic Planning

planningStrategic planning has become a very important aspect for any business decision in recent years and the industry corporations realise that a decision can not be made without taking into consideration the wider perspective. Making a change to an organisation will have impacts on many different aspects within the organisation and externally to the business. If a plan is implemented strategically it will benefit the business with an aim to optimise profits. It may not directly increase profits but aims to make the business much more efficient and make sure the management is planning in the right way for future successes.

There is not set path that a manager will take when they start to make decisions that may affect their company or department, and often an idea will end up becoming a change to the organisation. To make sure the right decision is made, comes mainly from the experience that managers have in what works and what doesn’t work. But how many times do managers implement an idea or change without actually consulting the business leaders in whether it fits in with the overall company strategy and how the business is doing within their market place. This is when organisations can find themselves without a clear path for their employees, customers and suppliers to take. This makes it extremely important to understand why strategic planning must be investigated, and before that can be done it has to be clearly understood what strategic planning is and how it differs from conventional decision making.
